Heeia State Park

Kama'aina Kids was awarded the management of He'eia State Park in 2010. Since then we have expanded our community service programs, established a successful eco-tour program and continue to partner with local community and state programs to excel in exposing the windward side to visitors from all over the world. We continue to strengthen our community relationships, increase our outreach programs, create a means to expose local artists and their products, and look for more avenues to expand our efforts.

Current activities include:

  • Holokai Kayak & Snorkel Adventure providing eco-tours of Kaneohe Bay in addition to kayak rentals, Catamaran Sailing, Stand-Up Paddle and Canoe Adventures
  • We are currently operating the Spirit of America (SOA) program targeted at elementary school children whose objective is to teach ocean safety/safe boating practices in various different skills, as well as ecological and cultural education/awareness)
  • WAQ (Warrior Adventure Quest: military funded ocean recreational program for soldiers who are just back from deployment or getting ready to be deployed)
  • A variety of volunteer service projects at the park aimed at invasive species removal and habitat restoration
  • Partnering with DLNR wildlife biologists to do island restoration work on Kapapa Island.  This will become a relationship in which the park provides resources and man power to help DLNR care for the island (invasive species removal, native habitat restoration, and cleanup), and DLNR will reciprocate this support at He'eia State Park
  • Partnered with Puakea Foundation, DOCARE, and Nature Conservancy for a variety of community outreach programs and a means for support infrastructure
